Biography

Ciéranne Kennedy-Bell is an award-winning film and television costume designer whose recent credits include Netflix hits Boudica: Queen of War (2023) and Three Day Millionaire (2022), BBC’s Starstruck (2022) and docudrama Secrets and Deals (2022).

A highly skilled and versatile costumier, Ciéranne has worked with visionaries such as Charlie Brooker — constructing complex sci-fi uniforms for BLack Mirror: USS Callister (Netflix 2018) — and, on stage, Matthew Bourne, creating embroidery for ballets including The Red Shoes. While she has worked across contemporary style and Roman Britain with equal flair, she specialises in period recreation and design with a particular interest in 1920s —1960s fashion. 

 

Ciéranne approaches each project with an eye to plot and character, using her costuming skills to enhance to the vision of the filmmaker, the actors' craft and the viewers' delight alike. She has worked on such varied projects as Boudica: Queen of WarThree Day Millionaire and Christmas at the Holly Day Inn, sourcing and creating stand-out, instantly iconic character pieces.

Her work on short films such as 
Quiet Life (BBC), Ortolan and Hubris has garnered attention from critics and festivals alike. Ciéranne was the winner of the 2019 Southern Shorts Excellence in Costuming Award for World War II short film, The Code, and nominated for Best Costume in the Birmingham Film Festival 2018 and 2019.

In addition to film and TV, Ciéranne's West End credits include Everybody's Talking About Jamie, The Play That Goes Wrong, Strictly Ballroom. Ciéranne is represented by Creative Media Management.
